Understand and setup MetaMask Account

<p>If you have ever purchased crypto, traded it or just played around with NFTs, I am sure you must have heard of MetaMask Wallet. If you haven’t, don’t worry! I am gonna explain it to you.<br><br><strong>MetaMask is more like a secure vault or your key for the Ethereum Blockchain.</strong> The keyword here is <u>Ethereum Blockchain</u>! You use MetaMask to interact with Ethereum Blockchain.</p><h3>So, what can I do with my MetaMask wallet? 🧐</h3><p>There is so much that you can do with your MetaMask wallet.</p><ul><li>You can accept/trade tokens.</li><li>You can accept/trade cryptocurrencies</li><li>You can store tokens and cryptos</li><li>You can sign in to Decentralised Applications without giving any personal information or data.</li></ul><p>In today’s world, we are so used to Facebook, Twitter, Google login functionality for signing up at different websites. This raises huge privacy issues on how the data provider, in this case, a social network, is using our data.</p><p>MetaMask saves us from all of this trouble. With MetaMask login, we don’t share any personal data with any website, we in fact don’t even have to fill long registration forms. Instead, we cryptographically sign a data to prove the ownership of our account on MetaMask and that is enough to log in. ## So what exactly is MetaMask?

Metamask is a browser extension that enables users to interact with the Ethereum blockchain and use decentralized apps (dApps) without the need to run a full Ethereum node. It functions as a digital wallet for users to securely store and manage their crypto assets, such as Ether and ERC-20 tokens.

## User-Friendly Interface
Metamask has a user-friendly interface that simplifies the process of sending transactions and managing assets for non-technical users. After downloading and setting up Metamask, users will be given a unique seed phrase, which acts as a private key for accessing the wallet and assets. It's important to keep this seed phrase safe and not share it with anyone, as it grants access to the wallet.

## Gas Price Management
Metamask has a built-in gas price oracle, which allows users to set the gas price for transactions. Gas is the fee required to pay for the computational resources needed to execute smart contracts on the Ethereum network. By setting a higher gas price, transactions will be processed faster by the network.

## Decentralized App (dApp) Access
Metamask also provides a feature called Web3 browser, this allows users to interact with decentralized apps (dApps) directly from their browser without the need to navigate to the specific dApp website, this feature can be used to access decentralized exchanges, lending platforms, and games.

## Multiple Wallet Management
Metamask allows users to create and manage multiple wallets within the extension, which is useful for separating assets and managing them accordingly. It also has a password-protected option to secure the account and a built-in seed phrase recovery mechanism to restore the account in case of loss or theft.

Let’s make your account on MetaMask.</p><p>Throughout your time at Metaschool, you will need an account of MetaMask to not only interact with the Ethereum Blockchain when you are building stuff but also to accept NFTs.</p><p>MetaMask has a mobile application and a Chrome browser extension too. I personally use MetaMask on my Chrome browser extension because I do most of the work on my laptop.</p><p>Anyways, let’s go!</p><p>Here are the installation steps:</p><ul><li>Go to <a href="https://metamask.io/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">MetaMask.io</a></li><li>Click Download and Install the Chrome Extension.</li><li>Setup your secure password.&nbsp;</li><li>Next step is the most important one.</li><li>Secure your 12-word phrase properly, never share it with anyone. Write it somewhere because if you lose it, you will never have a way to recover your account. So be mindful of that.</li></ul><p>Congrats! your account is created and you must have received a public address. The public address will be in the pattern of:</p><p><strong>Example:</strong> 0xCfD1dC19ce1101028F4A0fe730A4C61C061954a9</p><p>You can use this public address to buy, trade and store Ethereum based tokens, cryptos, NFTs and you can even use it to sign in to websites like OpenSea. # 🦊 How to Install MetaMask?

## Download the extension
Go to the Metamask website and click on the "Get Chrome Extension" or "Get Firefox Extension" button. This will redirect you to the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons store, depending on your browser. Click "Add to Chrome" or "Add to Firefox" to download the extension. It's also available for Brave, and the new Edge.

## Create a wallet
Once the extension is downloaded, click on the Metamask icon in the top right corner of your browser. Click on "Create a Wallet" to start the setup process.

## Set a password
You'll be prompted to create a password for your new wallet. This password will be used to access your Metamask account, so make sure it is strong and not easily guessable.

## Save the seed phrase
You'll be given a seed phrase, which is a unique set of words that can be used to access your wallet and all your assets. It is important to keep this seed phrase safe, as anyone with access to it can access your wallet and steal your assets. It is recommended to write it down and store it in a safe place, or you can use a seed phrase recovery mechanism that Metamask provides.

## Get your Wallet address
Once you've set up your wallet, you will get a Wallet address, it will look like this example "0x9f8cfb2c5b7a3b3f3d7f5d5a5c5b5b5b5b5b5b5b5". You can use this address to receive cryptocurrency, just like you would with a regular wallet.

## Interact with dApps
You can also use Metamask to interact with decentralized apps (dApps), which are applications that run on the blockchain. These can include things like decentralized exchanges
